CastFlys.com is an outgrowth of CastFlys.net. The latter proved to be developed on a poor platform for today's digital world. The format was rigid and it allowed no server side applications. Therefore the content was limited and the opportunity for growth was small..

So Castflys.com was born. Taking the basic content and concept from the old site, the whole structure of the site has been re-designed, re-edited and re-written. During the time it took to learn CSS and XHTML, and put the content together CastFlys.net was left alive on the internet. Once the content of CastFlys.com is matured the .net address will be forwarded to this site. In the meantime this site will be built in pieces and put up live as those pieces are completed.

Guy Manning has been Fly Fishing for over 2 decades and came into the sport "before the movie". In the early days he spent a lot of time reading some of the old standard texts on Fly Fishing such as both Bergman's and Schwiebert's, "Trout". Other names on the bookshelf are Behnke, Hughes, Skues, Lyons Wulff, Brooks, Leonard, Francis, Pennel, Tod, McClane, Kreh and Krieger to name a few. As a member of the Long Beach Casting Club he became active in tournament casting for over a decade. As a result of the influence of members of LBCC he became a teacher and earned an FFF Master Casting Instructor certification in 2001. Guy has developed and presents a 2 day Casting Instructors Workshop aimed at prospective certified casting instructors.

Guy teaches classes in single and double handed (Spey) casting. He teaches all levels but is particularly interested in working with intermediate and advanced casters. Guy also presents slide shows to FFF clubs as well as hosting fly fishing trips to the Sea of Cortez.
